Baseball Recap: Grace Davis Takes a Loss

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Grace Davis and Beyer meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Spartans came up short against the Patriots, falling 20-12. Even though they lost, the Spartans' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Oscar Mendoza was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mendoza was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Grace Davis got a big performance out of Wyatt Mangan, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Armando Villegas, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Grace Davis' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Beyer, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Patriots beat Grace Davis by a score of 9-0 on Thursday.
