East Nicolaus is 0-10 against Colusa since March of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to challenge the RedHawks at 4:00 p.m. East Nicolaus will be strutting in after a win while Colusa will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, East Nicolaus got the win against Paradise by a conclusive 13-3. Considering the Spartans have won six games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashton Wong made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wong was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Logan Cleary and Braden Hardwick did most of the damage at the plate: Cleary went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Hardwick went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most RBI Cleary has posted since back in April of 2024. Mikey Robbins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
East Nicolaus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 23 runs the game before, Colusa was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Vacaville Christian by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the RedHawks have suffered since February 27th.
Kane Nall was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for East Nicolaus and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Colusa, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-16 record.
East Nicolaus couldn't quite get it done against Colusa in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
