Upper Merion Area has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Upper Perkiomen Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Merion Area will be strutting in after a victory while Upper Perkiomen will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Upper Merion Area in a 34-20 win over Pottstown.
Upper Merion Area found their leader in underclassman Kennedy Coles, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Smith, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 64-27, which was the final score in Upper Perkiomen's tilt against Phoenixville on Friday. While losing is never fun, Upper Perkiomen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Phoenixville is ranked 207th).
Despite the defeat, Upper Perkiomen got a solid performance out of Erin States, who scored 14 points.
Upper Merion Area's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 20.33 points. As for Upper Perkiomen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.
Upper Merion Area beat Upper Perkiomen 41-30 when the teams last played back in January. Will Upper Merion Area repeat their success, or does Upper Perkiomen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
