The Independence 76ers will be playing at home against the Del Mar Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Independence has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Del Mar will arrive with five straight victories.
Last Saturday, Independence came up short against Silver Creek and fell 41-30.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jodi Regondola, who scored 12 points. That was a full 40% of Independence's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isabella Aquino was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Del Mar posted their closest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 victory over Westmont.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Mar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Moana Tulua, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Tulua hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Arseama Kibrom, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Independence bumped their record down to 9-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Del Mar, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
