It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Platteview Trojans ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 51-50 win over Lincoln Lutheran. Winning may never get old, but Platteview sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Platteview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braden Staudt, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Staudt set a new season high mark in steals with two. Jaxon Adams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Lincoln Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacob Duitsman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Duitsman's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Hager, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Platteview pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lincoln Lutheran, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platteview and Roncalli Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (Roncalli Catholic is ranked 42nd, while Platteview is ranked 29th). As for Lincoln Lutheran, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Concordia at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
