Union Area has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Ellwood City Wolverine at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Union Area beat Harbor Creek 41-29.
Meanwhile, Ellwood City stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They breezed by Laurel at home to the tune of 64-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ellwood City has posted since December 18, 2023.
Ellwood City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caitlin Kreitzer out in front who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Elsie Sturgeon, who scored 14 points.
Union Area's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Ellwood City, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Union Area against Ellwood City in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 51-21 win. With Union Area ahead 30-5 at the half, the game was all but over already.
