The Wiggins Tigers will take on the Akron Rams at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wiggins is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Wiggins took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Platte Valley 8-2. Considering the Tigers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Larry Garcia and Alex Tarango were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Garcia tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Tarango struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Garcia went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Tarango got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Tarango a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arath Carrazco, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wiggins' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Carston Johnson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Akron's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Wray by a score of 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Jaken Vick was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Wiggins pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Akron, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wiggins has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Akron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wiggins suffered a grim 14-5 defeat to Akron when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
