The Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They ended the year with a bang, routing Meyersdale 53-33. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-10.
Leading Claysburg-Kimmel to victory were Brayden Haney and Elias Ritchey. Haney scored 13 points along with four steals, while Ritchey scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The game was Haney's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cory Walter, who scored three points along with 13 rebounds and five blocks.
Meyersdale lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Vogt, who scored nine points along with three steals. Matthew Hainsworth was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Claysburg-Kimmel now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Meyersdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Claysburg-Kimmel will take on Everett at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Meyersdale, they will be playing at home against Salisbury Elk Lick at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Salisbury Elk Lick and Meyersdale are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
