Softball Recap: Humboldt Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Humboldt came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Mason City Mohawks. That's more bragging rights for the Wildcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Humboldt pushed their record up to 14-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Mason City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Humboldt will take on Garner-Hayfield/Ventura on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.84 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mason City, they will be playing at home against Waverly-Shell Rock on Thursday. The Go-Hawks will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
