Baseball Recap: Ceres Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Ceres put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 16-0 margin over the Lathrop Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Aiden Maines, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Moreno, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Ceres always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ceres' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Lathrop, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ceres will face off against Pacheco at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ceres' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Pacheco's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lathrop, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Johansen at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Johansen has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something Lathrop will no doubt try to take advantage of.
