The Lincoln Hornets will face off against the Kearny Komets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
On Thursday, Lincoln made easy work of Hoover and carried off a 13-4 victory.
Isaiah Bartolome was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lincoln let Dominic Mendoza and Julio Ojeda run wild. Mendoza went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Ojeda went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Mendoza a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Sosa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .548. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kearny). They came out on top against Francis Parker by a score of 13-10 on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Komets considering their two-run performance the game before.
Nicolas Hembera was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Kearny: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DJ Martinez, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Kearny, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lincoln has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kearny struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Lincoln's way against Kearny in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Lincoln made off with a 16-2 victory. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Komets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
