Baseball Game Preview: Los Angeles CES Unicorns vs. Banning Pilots

The Los Angeles CES Unicorns will square off against the Banning Pilots at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Los Angeles CES is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Franklin.

Eli Stephens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. Stephens was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Los Angeles CES let Cai Bloom-Furedi and Ezra Fife run wild. Bloom-Furedi went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Fife went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Fife has posted since back in March. Trevor Hornstock was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Los Angeles CES kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Banning entered their tilt with Rancho Dominguez on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Lobos by a score of 4-1.

Banning saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pedro Ibanez-Eddy, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Banning's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Los Angeles CES, the win got them back to even at 12-12.
