Liberty County is 0-10 against Savannah Country Day since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Liberty County put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 30-12 margin over Claxton. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

The team relied heavily on Landon Usher, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty County's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 8-14 when he doesn't). Jonathan Williams also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Liberty County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.
Savannah Country Day not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2, 2024. They put the hurt on Bryan County with a sharp 11-3 win.
Tyler Scott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Ben Lynch looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Gabe Mckinney was a standout: he scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Sammons, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Liberty County's record is now 11-14. As for Savannah Country Day, their record now sits at 6-19.
Liberty County might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Savannah Country Day in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
