The El Rancho Dons 's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 42-32 to La Serna. El Rancho has not had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Several Dons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emery Riker, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 40.6% of El Rancho's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ariel Marquez was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
El Rancho's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 13-13. As for La Serna, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. El Rancho will challenge the Chiefs at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Santa Fe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Friday. As for La Serna, they will head out on the road to face off against the Condors at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
