After a string of four wins, Patrick Henry's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. The match between them and the Mercer Island Islanders didn't end well, with the Patrick Henry Patriots falling 62-48. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 569th in California, while the Islanders are ranked 94th in Washington).

When it comes to explaining why Patrick Henry lost, don't look at Alexander Newlands. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Newlands has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Weatherred, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Patrick Henry smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

William McDonald was his usual excellent self, going 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points for Mercer Island. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Cruzen, who had six points and seven assists.

Patrick Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Mercer Island, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Patrick Henry wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 49-38 loss against Camarillo on the 27th. As for Mercer Island, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-35 defeat against Corona del Mar on the 27th.
