Anderson had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it nine. They came up short against the Weed Cougars, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cubs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Nathaniel Melton was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Melton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Mason, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Aaron Aitken was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.
As for Weed, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record. Considering they have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Anderson, Weed also got a great game from a two-way player: Braeden Cordes. Throwing, Cordes struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jett Marshall tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Cordes has posted since back in May of 2025. At the plate, Cordes got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Marshall went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. Weed is 5-1 when Marshall posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Jackson Keen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
Looking ahead, Anderson will head out on the road to face off against Williams at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Weed, they will be playing at home against Biggs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
