The El Capitan Vaqueros's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pacific Ridge Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Pacific Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on El Capitan, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, El Capitan didn't have too much trouble with Monte Vista on the road as they won 53-39. Given El Capitan's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Monte Vista is ranked 804th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
El Capitan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily Sample out in front who scored 11 points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Heinricy, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Pacific Ridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 52-46 to Escondido Charter.
El Capitan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Pacific Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for El Capitan against Pacific Ridge in their previous meeting back in December of 2014 as the squad secured a 67-12 win. Does El Capitan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pacific Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
