Sonoma Academy (Santa Rosa, Calif.) baseball team was just 2-3 on the season and mired in a three-game losing streak.
Four games later, the Coyotes are 6-3 with four straight no-hitters to their credit.
The streak began against Technology (Rohnert Park) on April 7. The Coyotes employed three pitchers in the 13-0 five-inning win with
Dylan De La Montanya going the first three innings and striking out seven for the win.
De La Montanya started against Calistoga on April 12 and threw three innings of no-hit ball with six strikeouts to get a win in a 15-0 victory. Two other pitchers took the mound as well to complete the second no-hitter in the streak.
Against Tomales on Thursday,
Ethan Jones started and threw five no-hit innings before giving way to
Kyle Duchynski who threw the final two. The duo did not give up a hit with Jones striking out nine and Duchynski six in the 5-1 win.
De La Montanya picked up his third win in the streak by going the distance in an 11-1 win over The Bay School (San Francisco) on Friday. He threw five innings and struck out eight.
There is no category for most consecutive no-hitters by a team in either the Cal-Hi Sports Record Book or the National Federation of State High School Associations Record Book. Sonoma Academy will go for its fifth-straight no-hitter Tuesday against Rincon Valley Christian (Santa Rosa).
