Peotone is 1-9 against Reed-Custer since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Blue Devils will host the Comets at 4:30 p.m.
Coal City hit Peotone with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 10-4 to the Coalers.

Tyler Leitelt was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Leitelt wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tavin Harshfield, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Reed-Custer). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 13-11 win over Clifton Central on Friday.
Like Peotone, Reed-Custer also got a great game from a two-way player: Jeffrey Wolford. Throwing, Wolford pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Cole Yeates pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Wolford got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Yeates got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI. What's more, Wolford posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Chase Isaac was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Klein, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs.
Reed-Custer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Peotone's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Reed-Custer, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10.
Peotone came up short against Reed-Custer when the teams last played back in April of 2025, falling 5-1. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
