Granite Hills is 1-9 against Helix since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Granite Hills Eagles' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Helix Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Granite Hills scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Mount Miguel for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-42 win on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Granite Hills has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Kerstena Tomika, who scored 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ajak Agoth, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Helix had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Monte Vista 61-20 on the road. Helix has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.
Jordyn McMillan continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Michaelle Whyte was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Granite Hills' win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7. As for Helix, their win was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
Granite Hills was taken down by Helix 63-23 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Can Granite Hills avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
