The Monarch Coyotes will face off against the Holy Family Tigers on Tuesday. Monarch has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Holy Family will come in with nine straight wins.
Monarch came up short against Legacy on Saturday, falling 15-3. That's two games in a row now that the Coyotes have lost by exactly 12 runs.
Bailey Adams was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Holy Family got the win against Longmont on Thursday by a conclusive 11-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Emmaline Humphreys made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Giuliana Magnetti and Kaiya Devereux did most of the damage at the plate: Magnetti got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Devereux went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four stolen bases gave Magnetti a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Turney, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
Holy Family always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Longmont only posted an OBP of .323.
Monarch's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Holy Family, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Monarch hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
