West Valley is 10-0 against the Cubs since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Valley Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Anderson Cubs at 6:00 p.m. West Valley has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 280 points over their last four games.
Even though Yreka scored an imposing 64 points on Tuesday, West Valley still came out on top. West Valley secured a 69-64 W over the Miners. Given West Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while the Miners are ranked 576th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Nolan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nolan has scored all season. Tess Hydrick was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with four steals.
Even though Anderson has not done well against the Falcons recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Anderson came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 49-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Anderson.
West Valley has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for Anderson, their win bumped their record up to 20-5.
Everything came up roses for West Valley against the Cubs when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 62-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
