Ola has gone a perfect 3-0 against Hampton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Ola put up the most points they have all season last Friday. They claimed a resounding 63-0 victory over Woodland. The Mustangs have beaten the Wolfpack the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolfpack has come to flipping the script.
Ola got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Waye out in front who rushed for 43 yards and three TDs, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. Timothy Clark was another key pass catcher, picking up 103 receiving yards and one score.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ola was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 281 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
Ola didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Kaden Driscoll led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. Michael Knight got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hampton won against Union Grove on October 3rd with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again last Friday. The Hornets took down Eagle's Landing 35-21.
Ola better focus on containing Tristan Parks and Aiden Louis as the pair were huge in Hampton's win. Parks threw for 255 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 passes, while Louis rushed for 74 yards and one TD on only eight carries. What's more, Parks racked up 151.4 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.
Ola's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Hampton, their win bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Waye and Louis. Waye just won't slow down this season and has run in 12 touchdowns while averaging 105.5 rushing yards per game. Louis has been a dominant force too and has run in 6 touchdowns while averaging 81.1 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Ola against Hampton when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-10 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
