South Tahoe has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Sparks Railroaders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. South Tahoe will be strutting in after a victory while Sparks will be coming in after a defeat.
South Tahoe put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past Truckee 58-14 on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-10.
South Tahoe can attribute much of their success to Addie Menke, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Campbell Mathews, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Menke has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Valeria Diaz, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Sparks' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 36-25 to Hug.
Sparks' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bailey Hunden, who scored seven points, and Chloe Taylor who scored four points. Taylor is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
South Tahoe has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. As for Sparks, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for South Tahoe against Sparks in their previous matchup back in January as the squad secured a 59-25 win. With South Tahoe ahead 37-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
