Enterprise hasn't had much luck against Chico recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hornets will host the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Enterprise was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Etna 3-2.
Etna's batters probably weren't too happy with Wayde Hutchings, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up two walks). Hutchings has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Enterprise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnnie Doremus, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Chico had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They put the hurt on Pleasant Valley with a sharp 14-1 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Tanner Horn made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Horn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Jaxxon Tweedt was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Guiseppe Bianchi, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Chico was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Enterprise's win bumped their record up to 11-6-1. As for Chico, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Enterprise has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Enterprise suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Chico in their previous meeting back in March of 2025. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
