Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Sage Creek's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Sage Creek hadn't done well against Canyon Crest Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Sage Creek Bobcats came out on top against the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens by a score of 75-64. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Ravens are ranked 580th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sage Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vaughn Young, who posted 18 points. The dominant performance gave Young a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Barnhart, who earned 18 points.

Sage Creek is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.5 points per game. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they moved to 11-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Sage Creek will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against San Dieguito Academy at 7:00 p.m. As for Canyon Crest Academy, they will head out to face off against Mission Vista at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
