Football Recap: Parker Elmore's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Columbus North over Bloomington North

Columbus North came into this matchup off a tough 31-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Bloomington North Cougars by a score of 31-28 on Friday. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but the Bull Dogs couldn't quite close it out.

Columbus North lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Parker Elmore, who picked up 111 receiving yards, and also punched in one score on the ground. Columbus North also got help from Morgan Knapp, who showed off his sure hands for 148 receiving yards.

Bloomington North got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was John Bargen out in front who threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns. Bargen's passing game has become a key predictor of the Cougars' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Bloomington North's leading receiver Blake Davis was Bargen's top target yet again, picking up 95 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Columbus North and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for Bloomington North, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Columbus North wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 49-40 loss against Terre Haute South Vigo on the 17th. As for Bloomington North, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-0 victory against Southport on the 17th.
