The Montebello Oilers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Alhambra, falling 54-17. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Montebello in their matchups with Alhambra: they've now lost four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alhambra to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joanna Dong, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. Megan Lai was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Montebello has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Alhambra, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Montebello will head out on the road to face off against San Gabriel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Gabriel is on a six-game streak of home losses, Montebello a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Alhambra will take on Schurr at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
