If the Vaughn White Tigers were feeling good off their 55-19 takedown of the Fulton Jaguars last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Vaughn fell 58-47 to West Ranch on Friday. While losing is never fun, Vaughn can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 921st, while West Ranch is ranked 423rd).
When it comes to explaining why Vaughn lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrea Cervantes. Despite the final result, she scored 16 points along with nine steals and eight assists. Cervantes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yamileth Ferreira, who scored 18 points.
Vaughn's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-15. As for West Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vaughn will take on East Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Ranch, they will be playing at home against Hart at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
