The Katella Knights will head out to square off against the El Modena Vanguards at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Katella's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so El Modena's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Katella barely beat Buena Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 12-4 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won five in a row.

Juan Carlos Navarro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Navarro was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isaiah Munoz was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Katella is undefeated when Munoz posts three or more RBI, but 3-5 otherwise. Alejandro Tinoco was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Katella lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, El Modena didn't have quite enough to beat Brea Olinda on Tuesday and fell 2-1. That's two games in a row now that the Vanguards have lost by just one run.
El Modena also got a good showing from Cash Ferinac, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Ferinac hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2025.
On the hitting side, El Modena saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Vega., who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for El Modena and nudges their season record down to 7-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Katella, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Katella might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from El Modena in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
