Foothill scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against the Rio Linda Knights, falling 71-31. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1007th, while the Knights are ranked 227th).

Rio Linda's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from LaRay Mitchell, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 20 points along with eight assists and five boards. The matchup was Mitchell's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Walton, who went 10 of 14 en route to 20 points and five assists.

Foothill's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Rio Linda, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1.

Foothill will be taking part in a tournament against Rio Linda at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for Rio Linda, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against California at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rio Linda is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.4 points per game this season.
