Gabrielino has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Mountain View Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain View took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Gabrielino, who comes in off a win.
Gabrielino stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They really took it to El Monte for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-11 victory at home. Given Gabrielino's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while El Monte is ranked 1282nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gabrielino relied on the efforts of Sarah Banh, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Mia Lim, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and 17 steals. Lim is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Yamaguchi, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Mountain View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 35-28 to South El Monte.
Gabrielino has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Mountain View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Gabrielino against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-9 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gabrielino since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
