The Roosevelt Roughriders will venture away from home to square off against the Greeley West Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Roosevelt had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Northridge on Tuesday. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 15-2 margin over the Grizzlies.
Lexi Arave looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Molly Vetter, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Lily Wiese was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Greeley West never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Greeley Central as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Spartans, who have now won three games in a row.
Amaya Cron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cron was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Greeley West got a massive performance out of Iyanna Martinez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Martinez continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison DeVault, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Greeley West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Roosevelt's record is now 14-7. As for Greeley West, their record now sits at 12-9.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Roosevelt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Greeley West struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Roosevelt might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Greeley West when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Roughriders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
