Christopher's batters probably weren't too happy with Joseph Engin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up nine Ks (he gave up two walks). Those nine strikeouts gave Engin a new career-high.
At the plate, Andre Lopez-Monsivais was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Waylon Walsh, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Archbishop Mitty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christopher only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Palo Alto was able to grind out a solid win over Monterey on Monday, taking the game 9-6. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Dores recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Isaiah Walker made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Walker was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Jackson Ehrlich tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.
Back at the plate, Coco Vonderhaar was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Carter Bader was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Archbishop Mitty now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Palo Alto, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Archbishop Mitty came up short against Palo Alto in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, falling 7-4. Can Archbishop Mitty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
