Echols County got a massive performance out of Makenzye Spivey, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Yasmin Galindo, who went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Echols County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lanier County came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 9-0 shutout. Nine seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Shelby McKettrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brilee Burkhalter, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Sayla Shade was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Echols County's record is now 5-11. As for Lanier County, their record now sits at 16-5.
