Conemaugh Township has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Purchase Line Red Dragons at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Conemaugh Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
Conemaugh Township scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ferndale 50-23 on the road. The victory was just what Conemaugh Township needed coming off of a 55-24 loss in their prior contest.
Conemaugh Township got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlyn Fetterman out in front who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. Fetterman hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Wiley, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Purchase Line's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-25 loss at the hands of Homer-Center. Purchase Line was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.
Loss or not, Purchase Line got some senior leadership from Anna Layden who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals and Brooklyn Syster who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Conemaugh Township's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Purchase Line, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Conemaugh Township have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Purchase Line struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 29.5 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Conemaugh Township didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Purchase Line in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win.
