The Bloomingdale Bulls are taking a road trip to square off against the Sumner Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomingdale is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
While Bloomingdale's win against Durant wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Bloomingdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Durant on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-3.
Natalie Cable made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero hits, the fewest she's had since back in February. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
Cable wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Paige Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Bloomingdale lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Sumner never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against East Bay as Sumner made off with a 19-0 victory. The contest marked the Stingrays' most dominant win of the season.
Like Bloomingdale, Sumner also got a great game from a two-way player: Victoria Baker. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Baker was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Jaelyn Joiner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Emma Smith was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Sumner has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. Bloomingdale's record is now 8-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bloomingdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Sumner struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bloomingdale beat Sumner 4-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Bloomingdale repeat their success, or does Sumner has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
