Baseball Recap: Gunderson Wins Going Away Against Independence

Gunderson's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Independence 76ers 19-3. Considering the Grizzlies have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

JD Murillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, earning four runs and two stolen bases. Gunderson is undefeated when Murillo posts two or more runs, but 10-12 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaiah Chavez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Avila, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Gunderson's win bumped their record up to 15-12. As for Independence, they dropped their record down to 2-23 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

As of now, neither Gunderson nor the 76ers have any future games scheduled.
