Baseball Recap: Augusta Prep Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Augusta Prep strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Greene County Tigers with a sharp 20-2 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 on Friday.

Dakota Dunn and Shae Joniec were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Dunn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Joniec struck out six batters over two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Dunn got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Joniec got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Viraj Bulla was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezekial Ramos, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Augusta Prep hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters every time they've taken the field this season.

Augusta Prep's record now sits at 3-0. As for Greene County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Augusta Prep will face off against Hephzibah at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Greene County, they will take on Cedar Shoals at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
