The Central Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the Harris County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
Central had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt Starr's Mill last Friday. The Lions really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-7 victory. With the Lions ahead 28-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Central can attribute much of their success to Jonaz Walton, who rushed for 122 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries, and JR Harris, who threw for 194 yards and four TDs on only 12 passes. That's the most passing touchdowns Harris has posted since back in October of 2024. Alanson Handz Simmons was in the mix too, providing Central with two touchdowns.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Central, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Walton, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Harris County might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Starr's Mill who claimed the real prize. The Tigers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 14-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Tigers have suffered since September 20, 2024.
Harris County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 409.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Harris County, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 207.1 total yards. Will Central be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Tigers flip the script?
Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Harris County in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 23-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
