The Torrey Pines Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Westview Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Torrey Pines has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Monday, Torrey Pines needed a bit of extra time to put away Patrick Henry. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Patriots 10-9. That's two games straight that the Falcons have won by just one run.
Camden Nishnick was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Vince Moore, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westview hadn't done well against Scripps Ranch recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wolverines came out on top in a nail-biter against the Falcons, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since April 10, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Joseph Arango-Manley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Jaskowiak, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
The victory was the third in a row for Westview, bringing their record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Torrey Pines, their record is now 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Torrey Pines has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Westview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Torrey Pines got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 against Westview by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
