For the first time this season, Scripps Ranch will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Augustine Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Scripps Ranch sitting on three straight victories and St. Augustine on five.
Scripps Ranch proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 17, 2024.
Cooper Sitton made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sitton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesse Dawson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Scripps Ranch hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, St. Augustine made easy work of Grossmont on Wednesday and carried off a 9-2 win.
Grayson Boles looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Mason Choi was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Tyler Wick was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
St. Augustine's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Scripps Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 5-10.
