El Camino has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Summit Shasta Black Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, El Camino didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Live Oak, but they still walked away with a 30-26 victory. The victory was just what El Camino needed coming off of a 66-34 loss in their prior contest.
El Camino's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mariah Flores, who scored eight points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Flores has scored at least 25% of El Camino's points. Another player making a difference was Basco Chelsea, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Summit Shasta scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Oceana 80-32 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Summit Shasta has managed all season.
El Camino's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Summit Shasta, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
El Camino might still be hurting after the 57-31 defeat they got from Summit Shasta when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can El Camino avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
