The Torrey Pines Falcons will take on the Point Loma Pointers in a tournament on Friday.
Torrey Pines fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against San Pasqual on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 5-4.
Jack Swanberg put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Swanberg was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Swanberg wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Young, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Liam Moran was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Point Loma got themselves on the board against Mira Mesa on Wednesday, but Mira Mesa never followed suit. They blew past the Marauders 10-0. The Pointers haven't had any issues with the Marauders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Luis Lara looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Phoenix Brant was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Gomez, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Point Loma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Point Loma now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Torrey Pines, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Torrey Pines skirted past Point Loma 3-2 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will Torrey Pines repeat their success, or does Point Loma have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
