It was a good run, but the Azusa Aztecs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Ontario, falling 56-18. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Azusa in their matchups with Ontario: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Aztecs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ruby Untoria, who scored 6 points. Untoria is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last four games she's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Azusa struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Ontario racked up 12.
Ontario's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hailey McDow, who scored 15 points along with 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jade Martinez, who scored 10 points along with 5 blocks.
Azusa's loss dropped their record down to 4-1. As for Ontario, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Azusa will square off against Blair at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ontario, they will head out on the road to face off against Ganesha at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
