Baseball Game Preview: Alhambra Moors vs. Bell Gardens Lancers

Alhambra is 9-1 against Bell Gardens since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Alhambra Moors will be playing at home against the Bell Gardens Lancers at 3:30 p.m. Alhambra is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Alhambra fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Schurr on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Nero Navarro was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Alhambra was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .316 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Bell Gardens entered their tilt with Mark Keppel on Monday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Aztecs a 10-0 shutout. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

Steven Tovar was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Noah Samano was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Bell Gardens' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1.

Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alhambra hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like Bell Gardens struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
