Even though the Panther Valley Panthers have not done well against the Lehighton Indians recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Panther Valley enjoyed a cozy 51-37 win over Lehighton. Winning may never get old, but Panther Valley sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Panther Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Maddison Maynard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Maynard is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Orsulak, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Panther Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Lehighton, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Panther Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Jim Thorpe at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Jim Thorpe comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Lehighton, they will head out on the road to face off against Blue Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Blue Mountain will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
