Despite the defeat, Canyon had strong showings from Shannen Wilson, who went 9-for-16 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds, and Darby Dunn, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Canyon is 6-2 when Dunn posts five or more steals, but 8-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Williams, who had five points and three steals.
Notre Dame Academy's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. As for Canyon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-15 record this season.
