Baseball Game Preview: Nuview Bridge Knights vs. Ojai Valley Spuds

The Nuview Bridge Knights will challenge the Ojai Valley Spuds at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Nuview Bridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Gorman Learning Charter - Santa Clarita get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Carson Lagor was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tobias Olague was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Nuview Bridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ethan Rivera, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Nuview Bridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Ojai Valley came tearing into Thursday's match with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Aztec Eagles as they made off with a 15-0 win.

Ojai Valley pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Nuview Bridge, their record now sits at 13-10.
