The Covina Colts will take on the West Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Covina 3.5, West 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Covina was handed a nine-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They skirted past Century 8-6.
Covina got a great performance from Cesar Guzman as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Guzman has become a key player for the Colts: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Declan Bowers was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Alvarez, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, West didn't have quite enough to beat Costa Mesa on Monday and fell 5-4.
Joey Kim put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Kim was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Kim wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Reef Sharman, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Cale Omanson was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Covina has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for West, they dropped their record down to 6-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Covina's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Colts have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for West, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Covina continue to outrun the ball?
